ShoutOUT! Don't miss these workshops @ National Youth Film Awards Conference


The annual National Youth Film Awards (NYFA) Conference in Singapore is back again this year, bigger and better with an exciting line-up, from 29 to 31 March, at *SCAPE. Bringing together local and regional filmmaking talent with Singapore's aspiring filmmakers, youths can expect to connect and hang out with esteemed industry members such as Raymond Phathanavirangoon, Boo Junfeng, and He Shuming. 

Admission is open to youths of all ages and is free. Co-organised by the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF), the conference is broken down into three main sections: Film Industry 101, Content Creation Workshops and Community Calling.

Some highlights include: 

Film Industry 101

Learn how to navigate the film festival circuit in “The Festival Experience” led by Boo Junfeng and Huang Junxiang as they prepare you for the highs and the lows.

Raymond Phathanavirangoon, film producer and film festival programme curator, will share “How Do I Get My Films Made” on just what it takes to make it in the industry.

Content Creation Workshop

A  popular  workshop  is “Choreographing  Stunts”, where stunt instructor Stuart Stephen Clifford will show participants how to pull off fight sequences like those in action movies!

Wee Li Lin, a pioneer female filmmaker in Singapore will share “How to Audition and Direct” and provide insights  into navigating an industry that is traditionally male dominated.

Community Calling

For participants thinking about film school, the “Let’s Talk about Film Schools” discussion is a must-join. A panel led BAFTA winner Low Ser En will share their experiences in film schools and how these schools opened up opportunities and equipped them for life in the industry and beyond.

Film Screening - "Best of Youths"

Gather together for a set of short films that highlight the lives of Southeast Asia youth, and see how everyone is not that different from everyone else. The films shown include:

CA$H by  Tan  Wei  Ting; NYFA 2018 Winner – Wei Ting’s directorial debut, Cash was selected for the 41st Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

November by Shane Lim; NYFA 2015 – Also a winner at SGIFF 2014, November was nominated for the “Golden Reel” at the 31st Los Angeles Pacific Film Festival.
